5 killed in Illinois village shooting; suspect slain in shootout

Five people were killed and a 6-year-old girl was taken to a hospital after a shooting in a tiny western Illinois village early Wednesday, officials said.

A suspect in the slaughter in Manchester, Illinois, was killed following a chase and shootout with police hours later, authorities said.

    Hm. Guns again. Just an observation, but I don't think this guy could have killed 5 people with a butter knife or a garden rake before being subdued. But guns couldn't be the problem. Could they?

    Stuart, please explain to me why you and a majority of other Americans want to make it so easy for psychos to get weapons. None of you has ever tried to take on that arguement. Guns are far too easily available.

      Quit having custody disputes for one thing. The 'family law' courts in this country are festering masses of deeply-rooted corruption. And stop insisting that people take care of children despite being eminently unsuited for the task.
      Lots of people should never be allowed to have children or be around them. This is not rocket science, ppl.

    Guns kill people because guns are owned by.crazies. guns should be illegal. I agree with BOmBO he couldnt have killed these people with a knife. This guy was obviously a killer. There are a lot of bad people that own guns. Look for this to continue until the govrrnment takes our funs which im fine with because i dont need one. Gun owners are paranoid people that have excuses to protect themselves, in reality they are the crazies that dont care about our society. Guns kill people not people kill people because if there were no guns people wouldnt be able to mass.murder a crowd. Im sick and tired of gun owners making excuses, let it go, you know you are ready to kill anyone that you dont like that much.

    Thats stupid. I have a gun and it has never killed anyone. Yes crazy ppl kill with guns so a mental eval should be part of the requirement.

    Obe more thing, if your going to keep guns, allow everyone to own one. Everybody should own a gun if your gonna leave guns legal. Its ridiculous, a neighbor could have it and i cant...or a criminal could have it and i cant, not fair.

    I understood you and i realise alot are. However most dont get them legitimately already! They need to enforce the laws they have and add a mental evaluation be done as well.
