IRS leader ousted amid scandal

President Barack Obama vowed Wednesday to hold accountable those at the Internal Revenue Service involved in the targeting of conservative groups applying for federal tax-exempt status, beginning with the resignation of the agency's acting commissioner who was aware of the practice.

In a brief statement delivered to reporters in the East Room of the White House, the president announced that Treasury Secretary Jack Lew had requested - and accepted - the resignation of acting IRS Commissioner Steven T. Miller.

The president said the "misconduct" detailed in the IRS Inspector General's report released Tuesday over the singling out of conservative groups is "inexcusable."

Or the fact that the IRS refused tax-exempt status to pro-lifers on behalf of Plan Parenthood

It must be added also that transparency & tactics unbecoming a democracy has hardly been the hall mark of the admn preceding this one.

On the IRS scandal it has to be determined yet as to how far up the ladder this was known and approved. IRS is BTW an agency hardly loved by anyone,

Chrissy, use common sense. Punish the rich man who pays your salary and he will pack his business up and move to another location. Your local economy will stagnate. That's exactly what happened to California and Detroit. New Orleans took Hollywood from California, Shreveport took the auto industry from Detroit. Detroit is a ghost town, California is a fuedal third world city state while Louisiana is booming. You should consider punishing the socialists in Washington who steel your money instead.

    @Mary
distribution of bonuses to any exec of any govt agency is in my opinion inexcusable. They are supposedly 'public servants' being paid by us the tax payers.

The list of federal political scandals staining administrations right from the time of G.Washington to those relatively recent is long and somehow not surprising.

Stimulating the economy , creation of jobs cannot just be credited to the rich only. Asking them to pay their fare share of taxes, closing loop holes that let them get away with moolah is not any 'ism' it is requisite in any system.

Any person with intelligence would recognize that targeting reporters who interview Obama with the IRS would make Obama very suspect. Anyone who isn't blind can see that this is the least transparent administration in American history.

It hardly makes sense that the 1% could ever keep the economy going ... never has and never will @ saywhat.

    Better still
"the upper class keeps all the money – pays no taxes
The middle class does all the work and pays all the taxes
The poor are just there to scare the S***t out of the middle class"

So let me get this right chrissy want ro talk about what's fair and how the rich man gets an unfair tax break, but every time they claim they're kids they are getting an unfair tax break. Because chrissy and saywhat chose to have kids everyone else has to pay more taxes. hypocritical don't you think? anytime you mention fair you are speaking communist code language.

Well this "unfair" tax break certainly isn't causing anybody to rush out and have more babies. The birth rate in the US has reached its lowest point ever recorded....meaning a negative growth in workers (Tax payers) in some 20 years. So who ya gonna call to come in and work, pay taxes, and fund old folks' retirement benefits ......The Immigrants....Ta-Da! 🙂

The historic first black president just needs to shut his pie hole until his term ends. The most transparent administration's first policy is to stonewall and cover up, and if he's talking he has zero credibility rating. He is unbelievable. It wasn't just hapless Susan Rice sent forth to deceive five news organizations – 0bama knew the Benghazi truth and chose to lie on David Letterman, The View, and elsewhere. Pants on fire.
