10 kids, 2 soldiers killed in Afghan suicide bombing

Ten schoolchildren and two soldiers with NATO's International Security Assistance Force were killed Monday in a bombing in Afghanistan, officials said.

A police officer was also killed when a suicide bomber attacked a bazaar in Afghanistan's eastern Paktia province, the Afghan Interior Ministry said.

The assailant, who was on a motorbike, detonated a device in the main bazaar of the Samkanai district, Interior Ministry spokesman Sediq Sediqqi said.

At least 16 others were wounded, Sediqqi said.

    Collateral damage in an attack on American soldiers is not going to win over the hearts and minds of the local afghans. When will these people ever learn?

    Let's leave Afghanistan as quickly as possible so Al Qaeda can advance their strategic objective of expanding the salafist state and compelling less western presence, plus the Taliban can restore religious dictatorship to Afghanistan. That will be a great outcome.

    Anti AlQaeda & Anti Taliban sentiment that was seething in the general population in the beginning was our most effective weapon.We failed to recognize it and use it to our advantage.

    Even the Taliban were arrayed against alqaeda nad had offered to deliver Osama Bin Laden to us twice, an offer that Bush rejected. Full scale invasion and prolonged occupation of that land and civilian deaths got that misadventure to fail.

    A few of you need to re-read the story. NATO did not target children. This is not NATO's fault.

      In this case, a "fanatic" was targeting US forces, but hit some local kids. ......no matter, the innocent children are the victims here, no matter who throws the damned Bomb and how just they feel their cause is!

    @Bombo
    I was not just talking about this incident. Thousands of children have died by actions from both sides and that is what matters in the final analysis. If one choses to ignore that reality that wouldn't diminish it. Call it 'collateral damage' or whatever.

    No one can and why? Time has gone when world could be divided and parceled and distributed among the powers of the time. Colonization and the 'Empire Syndrome' has had its day.
    Be it M.East , S.E.Asia, Pacific Rim, Africa or Latin America, interventionism is no longer viable & sustainable.
