Feds come up empty in Hoffa hunt

A search in a field near Detroit for ex-Teamsters boss Jimmy Hoffa ended Wednesday, and as with so many past attempts to find him, authorities walked away empty-handed, the FBI said.

Authorities resumed digging in the field Wednesday morning, and a law enforcement source said the search was expanded to a site where a house once stood.

John Anthony, a former FBI special agent involved in the original 1975 hunt for Hoffa, said the tip from alleged mobster Tony Zerilli which prompted this week's renewed search was the most credible he's heard since Hoffa's disappearance - though he still has his reservations, he said.

@ Janice ? My earlier comment was of course deleted. I was referencing James Gandolfini the actor who died of an apparent heart attack in Italy .
@ Cnn, I will go on record to say YOU are the TROLL . There was no reason to delete that comment and leave the following one.

So it was Jimmy Burke's house they were looking in. He killed plenty of people (see Goodfellas) but apparently not Hoffa.

Unless Hoffa told one of his buddies to go home and get his shinebox.

Well if they believe hes buried in Detroit they should dig under those abandoned houses that have become such an eyesore! At least then something positive would come from it.

Hoffa will never be found. Iceman had him crushed in the trunk of a car and put in a smelter, melted down and made into a cute little italian sports car. His body was melted into that metal.

I'm telling you, I saw Hoffa in Dinky Donuts just last week. He was dunking a glazed in black coffee.

Stop looking for the body. He's still alive and living in an airport lounge in Moscow.

I would prefer my tax dollars were not spent finding a guy who would currently be 100 years old.
