Kerry, key allies in Qatar for talks on Syrian rebels' support

U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry arrived in Qatar early Saturday for meetings with his Western and Mideast counterparts who support Syrian rebels struggling to topple President Bashar al-Assad.

The diplomatic group, known as the London Eleven, is meeting in Doha to help shift the balance of power on the Syrian battlefield away from al-Assad and into the hands of his enemies.

But they are up against support for his government by Russia, China, Iran and the Lebanese militant group Hezbollah.

And so now that the US is supplying arms and anti tank/anti aircraft misiles to the rebels, which we are now learning their key players are made up of Al Queda and the Taliban: where EXACTLY does that put us on the "War on Terror?" If we are no longer in a war on terror but are in all actuality subsidising the terrorists, why do we need homeland security? Isnt that why that department was created? And dont they recieve billions of our tax dollars to keep them going? Someone needs to do some big time explaining cuz this stinks to high heaven!

@chrissy,bobcat,good mornin all, republicans at this point like McCain must be estatic knowing Pres.Obama with blessing from the republican backed MIC have yet another buyer for their weapons of death..Remember all its the republicans that have always advocated war from Eisenhower with Vietnam in the 50s as UN backed interventionalists with troops till Bushs two wars created with their lies that cemented Colin Powells demise as a future political, presidencial candidate because he carried those lies to not only both houses but to the UN assembly as well!!Hopefully Al Qaeda,Taliban might see us in another light not the one that Bushs put us in as the blood thirsty war mongers that republicans have ignorently made us out internationally to be..Remember people you get more with honey as you would with vinegar and keep your friends close but your enemies closer...An olive branch extended to these terrorists would make them wonder just who their real enemies are now ,right!!

That@chrissy is unfortunately what we have come to be branded as.
getting Taliban to the table is the only option left to us to get out of the mess we created for ourselves, its no statesmanship.

Let me add @Pete that Eisenhower did eventually realize the folly of war and warned this nation of the threat of militarism and expanding influence of MIC. but did we pay any heed?

@saywhat,with Eisenhower coming up for reelection voters back then appreciated military power and the men that wielded that power that's why they loved him over Stevenson!!And yes if we can get the taliban to see us differently maybe just maybe we can quit acting as war mongerers and more as peace loving diplomates something Pres.Obamas been advocating since his inaugeration as president with his attitude of no boots on any foriegn soil unless its for humanitarian reasons that's all and is that so hard to take or realize republicans the advocates of war to swallow!!

And now further proof that we have been decieved by our government regarding Syrian rebeks and funding Al Queada and the Taliban. The US presently sends 2.5 million dollars a MONTH to the rebels and company. Also they are wearing US Military uniforms and using US military gear. (Radios etc) and are being fed US military (MRr)! And using US military weapons! Nothing like a punch in the face eh?
