Terror threat prompts U.S. embassy closures

A terror threat prompted the State Department on Thursday to direct its embassies in key Middle East nations, including Egypt and Israel, to close on Sunday with the possibility they could remain idle longer.

A U.S. official not authorized to speak publicly on the matter called the threat "credible and serious."

It was "directed at American targets overseas," but may not be confined to main diplomatic facilities, the official said.

No one is going to war with the Middle East. Some militant organizations based in the Middle East are going to war with the civilized world.

QUESTIONS? Wonder what the number is of a "normal" protective force at our embassies? What types of weapons can these embassiies have? Can we fly in reinforcements, gunships, etc., or do we have to get "permission" from the country? ANY country where we have an embassy that is attacked and does not send, imediate, military assistance, then I would close that embassy forever!

Double check this story: 0bama told us Al Qaeda was on the ropes when he precipitously withdrew from Iraq and now Afghanistan, and created the Al Qaeda safe harbor in Libya where there used to be none, and let that chechnyan kid immigrate to Boston. Then he sequestered the military so it's cutting today, right now. Since 0bama is the smartest prezidente ever, and he's a man of integrity, how can there be a terror threat?

That "chechnyan kid" came here over ten years ago; how did Obama "let him in"?

OK, TJI is posting again! Remember the talking points, gang: Individual freedom is bad, government solutions requiring greater control is good; Obama can do no wrong and he's trying hard and his failures are the fault of Bush or obstructionist repooblikins; Islam is misunderstood and a religion of peace; pepperoni pizza is good!

    Good morning folks.
Remember there has been a failed 'War on Terror' going on and we are well into its 11th year with no end in sight.

    1. Obama said, while running for presidnet, "we have invaded a country (Iraq) (which he voted against going to war with, because it lacked credibility or proof) we have lost too many soldiers for a war for oil. (Not to mention Cheney's Halburton contrators, making a money windfall) His promise was to withdraw troops with the majority of Americans agreed with.

Oh, yes, I forgot: the money we were supposed to get from that oil was supposed to fund the Iraq war, according to Cheney. That worked out well. For Cheney.

    2. Al Quaeda- has a hand in many mideast countries and helped the rebels oust the Quadaffi regime. They know they are there, but they blend in with the regulars. Al qaeda is also in Syria and African country's. Pakistan is where he said they have them on the ropes, because now they are trying to take over African cities by force.

    5. Congress works for themselves and their interests, I believe Obama works for the people, we have 1 person working for us, Case in point, They passed a bill for no more inside trading, (R)Cantor, tried to take out an intrical part so his wife could still use the insider trading information. And his people in his state was given stimulus, his company his wife worked for recieved some of the stimulus he was so vehemently and outspokenly opposed. (unless he makes money from it or funds his wife, in which they both make money.)

Not to mention that the fringes think it's a great idea to try and blackmail Obama unless he agrees to defund a law that has passed both houses and challenges to the SC. Per. Good governance.
