U.S. evacuates diplomats in Pakistan

The State Department has evacuated most of its diplomats from Lahore, Pakistan in response to a terrorist threat against the U.S. consulate, senior State Department and other senior U.S. officials told CNN.

"We have picked up what we regard as a threat worthy of taking this action," one senior U.S. official told CNN.

The State Department issued an "ordered departure" for all of its diplomats in Lahore Thursday, except for a handful of emergency personnel. The diplomats were moved to Islamabad, the nation's capital, officials said.

A travel warning issued by the State Department said the department "ordered this drawdown due to specific threats concerning the U.S. Consulate in Lahore" and warned U.S. citizens against travel to Pakistan.

    Unending cycle of violence & bloodshed, threats, travel advisories & bans, diplomatic missions shut downs, domestic spying on a frightful scale, more in the offing to a generally unaware Congress & the public.
    Un acknowledged failures. But no I am no longer supposed to say that.

    An article today in Common Dreams reveals that a new training video "Cyber Awareness Challenges" for federal employees in effect labels 'unhappiness with our foreign policy a threat'. Any dissent for that matter.

    @ saywhat, they keep saying we are under a threat but yet nothing. We've been hearing this same song and dance for years now all to justify WHATEVER actions these clowns are doing at that moment! Well i no longer believe or trust any of them!

    And i see my post earlier @ saywhat has been deleted so i'll try again. Here's an example why i have no faith in our government @ saywhat. The US is funding Egypts military while backing Israel, who today droned Egypt, killing 5 people! So it looks like whos on 1st, and whats on 2nd and where the heck are we?? Too confusing! It appears we are in left field while OUR tax dollars are being used everywhere else but here!!

    Pakistanis are murderers. They killed 40 people just because they wanted to kill people belonging to a minority on their holy religious day. It is good that Americans took precaution and shut down the embassy in Pakistan. These Pakistani are brutal murderers – look what they did to their own people just because they belonged to a minority community.
