U.S. evacuates diplomats in Pakistan

The State Department has evacuated most of its diplomats from Lahore, Pakistan in response to a terrorist threat against the U.S. consulate, senior State Department and other senior U.S. officials told CNN.

"We have picked up what we regard as a threat worthy of taking this action," one senior U.S. official told CNN.

The State Department issued an "ordered departure" for all of its diplomats in Lahore Thursday, except for a handful of emergency personnel. The diplomats were moved to Islamabad, the nation's capital, officials said.

A travel warning issued by the State Department said the department "ordered this drawdown due to specific threats concerning the U.S. Consulate in Lahore" and warned U.S. citizens against travel to Pakistan.

    @chrissy. Rightly said.
Our faulty and lopsided policies and our detached from reality , subservient only to special interests and lobbies politicians doing the greatest harm to this great country.
We are helpless @chrissy despite supposedly having a voice. Why does Carter's comment " we don't have a functioning democracy at this time" keeps coming back, i wonder?
    Have a good one all.

Giving billions in aid to Pakistani Muslims was indeed a faulty policy. We are giving aid to the same terrorists who murder minorities, oppress women, throw acid in their faces, and shoot school girls.

Oh and also @ saywhat, isn't the US also funding Al Queada in Syria? Another country that Israel plans on waging war with. My dad always told me "if you straddle a fence, you're bound to get hurt", meaning you cant play both sides against the middle!

That is exactly what Pakistani Muslims are doing. They demand billions in aid from America and they threaten the security of people in the American embassy. These Muslims play both sides all the time. And your dad was right: that is why they get hurt by drones. They deserve it.

We allow Muslims to emigrate to this country and then what do they do? Boston bombing!!
We dole out billions in aid to Pakistani Muslims and then what do they do? They threaten us and make us shut down our embassy in Pakistan.
These Muslim terrorists need to be dealt with in a decisive manner.

@ Josh people have imigrated to this country since its very beginning. We have had mass shootings for years also. Some by people of Irish descent: Polish, German, Italian, (alot of Italian shootings, ie:mob) African, etc. So what im saying is that by your logic everyone is a possible terrorist!

People came to America to escape religious persecution from all around the world. And all Americans are proud of welcoming them. These Pakistanis murdered 50 or so Shiites on their Ramadan. These Muslims are religiously lunatic people – these Pakistani Muslims are the exact opposite of what the American values represent. Please do not compare them with Germans and Italians other civilized people. I am glad we closed the embassy there.

I am glad we did too! We should close all of them, permantly! However, i still feel the biggest terrorists this country faces now is our very own government!

Another government hater? I should have known. Sigh! You are no different than those Pakistani Muslims who hate their government and kill their leaders all the time.

And they are behaving no differently than the Native American Indians did for centuries! They live what they know!

You hate the Native Americans too? They were not killing each other in the name of Mohammed. You seem to hate the government, you clearly hate American people, and you hate Native Americans. And anyone you hate, you compare them with primitive and violent Muslims.

Well, maybe centuries was a bit of an overstatement! But definitely many, many years.

Agreed @ Josh! We should also stop ALL foreign aid. Particularly since we have no way of controlling how that money is spent!

I hate what our government has become yes. They supply funding to the Egyptian military, who in turn uses it to overthow their government. They supply funding to Israel who in turn uses it to kill those same people (the Egyptians) that we have funded. They fund Syrian rebels, who are comprised of Al Queadians! Do you really think they are unaware of this? Only a fool would believe that!

Egyptian military freed innocent people from Muslim Brotherhood. You seem to hate the American government but you support Muslim Brotherhood. Israel is a friend of America, and you hate Israel too. A clear pattern is emerging here...

Now if you wanta keep believing that these people have OUR best interests at heart by all means do so! A FOOL and his money are soon parted! I will stick to my beliefs: bring ALL our people home, stop ALL foreign aid: and let them kill each other!
