India unveils home-built aircraft carrier

India launched a 37,500-ton indigenous aircraft carrier Monday in its bid to join a select group of nations capable of building such warships.

The carrier INS Vikrant, meaning courageous, was unveiled at a shipyard in Kochi in southern India, defense ministry spokesman Sitanshu Kar told CNN.

They also fire powered their nuclear reactor on their first Indian build nuclear sub.
Its not just "chew that China & Pakistan" its a matter to ponder here too. long time ally of Russia, India has been insidiously playing us for fools playing that & China card.
They are now a regional power with their own agenda and we have never been able to get their nationalism to come under our influence.

New centers of power are emerging as we lose leverage region after region. China & Russia both have realized the imperative of working together against a weakening West. I see a strong re-emergence of Russian influence. Nuclear India, China & Russia with its 3000 warheads aimed at N.America are the ones to watch.
After antagonizing Pakistan we don't have much of a leverage left in that strategically important region.

i also feel that another vital region for us, M.East would gravitate towards Russia & Chinese influence with India jockeying for power if we continue our current non-policies.

    Aircraft Carrier USS LINCOLN
This is the actual radio conversation of a US naval ship with Canadian
authorities off the coast of Newfoundland in October 1995. Radio
conversation released by the chief of naval operations, 10-10-95.
CANADIANS: Please divert your course 15 degrees to the south to avoid a collision.
AMERICANS: Recommend you divert your course 15 degrees to the north to avoid a collision.
CANADIANS: Negative. You will have to divert your course 15 degrees to the south to avoid a collision.
AMERICANS: This is the captain of a US Navy ship. I say again, divert YOUR course.
CANADIANS: No, I say again, you divert YOUR course.
AMERICANS: This is the Aircraft Carrier USS LINCOLN, the second largest
ship in the United States Atlantic Fleet. We are accompanied with three Destroyers, three Cruisers and numerous support vessels. I DEMAND that you change your course 15 degrees
north. I say again, that's one-five degrees north, or counter-measures
will be undertaken to ensure the safety of this ship.

CANADIANS: This is a lighthouse. Your call.

India's game in the 1970's was to find a comfortable spot between the USSR and the West, at odds with China. As a result, they became a traditional Russian ally. But they've never been friends with China and likely never will. They also have a sort of marriage of convenience with Israel. The Israelis actually volunteered to destroy Pakistan's nuclear reactors years ago if India would let them use their air bases. India declined.

Lol @ BOMBO, i don't think cnn wants us to debate that issue. And it may not be an issue for very long anyway. Well, if it all goes according to Holders plan anyway. And that might very well be the smartest thing than man has done since he got his position anyway.
