U.N.: Chemical weapons use must be punished

The use chemical weapons is a crime against humanity and must be punished, United Nations chief Ban Ki-Moon told journalists Monday in Seoul, South Korea.

Washington may be preparing to take on the role of the punisher, if reports the Syrian government used poison gas against civilians are verified.

U.N. inspectors on the ground in Syria may be close to doing that.

The prez promised action if chem weapons were used in Syria. Ok they have been used. I would have never said sheot on the matter because I also believe animals need help in other ways than us blowing them up. They’ll take of it themselves as so evident on A daily basis.

There are those of us who despise what Assad has done to Syria and, obviously, those who despise Syria

Why must it ALWAYS be up to the US? Why cant China or Russia or Israel play world police?

I was about to say the exact same thing chrissy. There are a lot more nations that are a lot closer than we are. We being the lead aggressors in this latest involvement will just reinforce the hate already generated toward us, plus the possibility / probability of other nations jumping into this fray. In other words, the whole damn place is about to be blown wide open.

Get real, Chrissy! Can you imagine what kind of country Russia and China would stand up for? Oh yeah... This is it. Assad has it all. Monarchy, military slavery and tyranny. Throw in the worlds largest supply of chemical weapons and you have it all... Everything they'd expect from an ally.

Luv ya, Girl... Just can't agree with ya.

The mentality at Washington still has not changed chrissy. So THEY continue to pour OUR money over seas. China and Russia are much too wise for that.

Lol @ Dan, thats so true! And if Israel took care of it then we would still be footin the bill!

If Israel took care of it, Assad would look like a martyr. The Arab League should take care of it. But they won't.

Uh oh. Now, someone has REALLY crossed obama's red line. We must launch many cruise missiles, a million dollars per tomahawk, at insignificant targets and congratulate ourselves for our commitment to world peace, like Bill Clinton did. What's that, you say? We're twice as heavily indebted now than we were under Clinton and obama has sequestered the military, unilaterally emasculating the only governmental agency that actucally worked? What about obama's legacy? Viola, this is his legacy: A welfare state in the US and inability to influence the world abroad.

You would have them all die... Then begin the embracing? What kind of home would produce such apathy?

There will certainly be a coalition, a collaboration of countries representing the free world. It's hard for me to understand how we, the people, can boo-hoo when there are so many people at risk. If I could change things, what a world it would be. But for now, we must change things one crisis at a time... And if we fall, we fall caring for one another.

God bless Syria. May the very things that divide us also bring us together.

"There will certainly be a coalition..." What's your authority for intervening in a sovereign state's domestic conflict? A coalition requires a UN security council resolution and Russia is a permanent member in support of Assad. Shoot, I think Russia sold them the chemical ordnance. There's no hope for Hope.

The role of punisher? This Syrian lure has been provoked hundreds of times in the last three years. It might be in Washingtons better interest to play the role of the bankruptED. They havent, won't, and will not do anything anyways.

The most disturbing part is the fact that once again the US will be the direct cause of terrorist factions taking over a country. We allowed this to happen during the Russian occupation of Afghanistan. We opened the door for it in Iraq, Libya and very soon Syria.

Well my last comment in awaiting moderation, which means you probably won't see it. It's a shame when all you do do is state facts with no derogatory language, they choose to take umbrage.

      Hey say what...

I read the UN inspectors were fired upon by Assad's soldiers and the U.S. is relying on witnesses and doctors at receiving medical centers to make a determination.

I'm glad we're doing the right thing in determining the actions of Assad as crimes against humanity.
