Zimmerman wants $200K from Florida

Lawyers for George Zimmerman, the Florida man who was acquitted of second-degree murder in the killing of Trayvon Martin, plan to ask the state to reimburse Zimmerman for at least $200,000 of expenses incurred during his trial.

Under Florida law, an acquitted defendant cannot be held liable for court costs or any charges while detained in custody, as long as a clerk or judge consents to the refund.

The costs may include money spent for expert witnesses, travel expenses and fees for transcripts.

Maybe that's the way it should be for a state who couldn't buy a conviction in a high profile case.

So YOU woulda shot a 17 year old boy?? That, of course. does mesh with my perception of you. I hope you never have children and then lose one. Its the hardest thing a parent ever has to endure!

Guess what. George did society a favor. He was a bad kid and on his way to killing someone in the same way all these other black kids are doing. If George was really racist dont you think he would have pumped more than one bullet in his body. I know I would.

It amazes me how black people turn a blind eye to their own kinds crimes.

The world is better off without travon martin – people forget he was trying kill someone when he got shot.

Zimmerman is legally not guilty after a trial. He should receive whatever Florida's laws provide for his compensation.
If enough citizens want laws changed, there is a process for change.

I used a politically incorrect word. We are no longer "citizens," as that term offends many: now we are "residents," and we all vote at least once.

His defense fund-raising ran out already? I am sure the good people on FB can throw a few more dollars in his direction. He accepts Paypal, doesn't he?

Florida taxpayers are already on the hook for prosecuting that bogus case. Might as well add this to the bill.
