Obama's recoil on Syria strikes draws heat

What appeared to be imminent U.S. military action against Syria will have to wait - at least for another week.

Now that U.S. President Barack Obama is asking for Congress' approval before launching strikes, he must wait until at least September 9, when lawmakers come back from recess.

In the meantime, he's getting heaps of criticism from both sides of the debate around the world.

"We can't understand how you can promise to help those who are being slaughtered every day in the hundreds, giving them false hope, then change your mind and say let's wait and see," said the Syrian National Coalition, a key group of Syrian dissidents.

But Iran, a staunch supporter of the Syrian regime, warned the United States will pay a price if it strikes Syria.

AlQaeda the happiest of all seeing as to how we play into their hands by getting 'lost' in those far off sand dunes. Two fold advantage to those who were a handful not far back and now expand.
    1) Strengthening their 'cause' portraying the US as the sole enemy of their religion attacking and invading and occupying muslim countries. Thus helping them recruit more to their side.
    2) Drawing us out and then being able to take a shot at us on their own territory.

About time we get our act together and stop playing their game. As for a limited strike on Syria to score a political point, that is unwise too 'cause it could fire back failing to achieve anything concrete and possibly worsening the situation.

For those who don't know exactly what Obama said regarding the "red line":
"We have been very clear to the Assad regime - but also to other players on the ground - that a red line for us is we start seeing a whole bunch of chemical weapons moving around or being utilized.

"That would change my calculus; that would change my equation."

This is where "Leading from behind" has gotten us. Mr. President, stop hiding behind the panzy liberals you surrounded yourself with and be a LEADER! You don't need permission to take action, you are the Commander In Chief for Christ's sake, a crummy Commander In Chief, but none the less Commander In Chief. I guess General George Patton was absolutely correct when he said "The lowest form of life is a POLITICIAN and the lowest politician is a LIBERAL DEMOCRAT." Patton also happens to be the very last General to actually win a war so put credibility where it is due. R. Lee Irming would throw a box of tissue at this sorry excuse for a president and ask him "You want a tissue, you jackwad? Are we in namby pamby land?"

How can the president ever hope to win ? I mean he's damned when he does and damned if he doesn't. In Libya, when he went without congressional "approval". he was dogged with calls for his impeachment. Now. when he chooses to seek congressional "approval", he is a weak and indecisive leader.
Do you people have any idea of what it is you actually want ?
