Russia calls for talks in Moscow on Syria

Russia's foreign minister Monday called for international talks in Moscow to promote a peace process for Syria and avert an American military strike.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said his Syrian counterpart, Foreign Minister Walid Moallem, "said quite clearly Damascus is ready to participate in a positive way" in negotiations.

Lavrov blamed U.S.-backed rebels in Syria for preventing a peace conference in Geneva. He said the Russian government would work to rebuild support for that idea.

US has little to lose and more to gain if it becomes the lead western power to agree to defusing the crisis.
Surely that wouldn't sit well with Israel or S.Arabia.Why should we care.

Has it been proven that Syria used the CW? For I do not understand why Assad would do such a foolhardy thing, given his conventional weapons were doing the job efficiently. It seems a little to convenient to me.

No US boots on Syrian soil. Period.

let history speak...with sarin on the loose and extremiss doing a practice run on its own citizens, we know that this will not remain in the syrian is just a matter of when...i am with president Obie on this one...i say to DESTROY assad's cache...NATO should care less if nukes are in his cache mix...that assad's problem...and his neighbors who gave it to him....that way noBODY moves up the political ladder and as a bonus: rebel and regime still can fight it out...checkmate everyone!

Of course that wasn't me rambling on about the Library. What a very curious person that would speculate about something he knows zero about.

Oh, and Hope? It doesn't appear as any US boots will be appearing on Syrian soil.
Which has been my fervent wish for the last 2 1/2 years.
