House delays Obamacare; shutdown looms

In a move that makes a government shutdown more likely, House Republicans approved a spending plan Sunday morning that would delay Obamacare for a year and repeal its tax on medical devices.

The temporary budget resolution now goes back to the Senate, where Democrats have consistently said any changes to President Barack Obama's signature healthcare law is a deal-killer.

On top of that, Obama has already issued a veto threat.

If Washington can't reach a deal, a government shutdown will begin at 12:01 a.m. Tuesday.

And im curious as to your many references to crack addicts. Are these references based on experience?

Actually chrissy yes it is, I have seen crack addicts who can function better and balance their own budget better than this current government can. You have one point, the democrats aren't to blame alone. There are sime republicans to blame also. If you fired all of the corrupt and useless politicians you would have 2or 3 republicans left to run the entire government. I can honestly say I was better off 5 years ago when I had 2 full time jobs and a side hustle. Everything the Obame administration seems to do seems to kill jobs. I now have 5 part time jobs and 3 side hustles and that's barely enough to pay the bills. Even worse I have recieved letters from both my work sponsered health insurance (which I pay nothing for but only recieve partial insurance) and my own personal out of pocket insurance ( which covers the 40% my work sponsored insurance didn't cover.) The rates of both are going up ASTRONOMICLY, causing my work sponsored insurance to be canceled and my personal insurance to go from $60 a month to more than $300 a month for still yet partial coverage. I say SHUT DOWN THE GOVERNMENT and get their minds right!

Lol @ Observer, isn't laziness a prerequisite for Congress?

Chrissy, I have never seen the level of dysfunction in any sitting Congress, ever. The same things they are too lazy to address is turned into a weapon to try and beat down the other party with.
What Hamsta doesn't seem to realize that eliminating the opposing party in fact would also eliminate the checks and balances that keep one party from holding all the cards, which would most certainly lead to a dictatorship. We've all seen how well THAT works out.

If Congress allows the Government to shutdown, leaving widows of soldiers, active soldiers and their families, and senior citizens worrying about what will happen to them, then Congress should not be allowed to receive their paychecks, and they should be sequestered like a jury in the House until they can get their act together for the good of our great nation!! EXACTLY @ Lisa from Nebraska! But they should be sequestered and docked pay just on general principles! If unproductiveness was a rewarded activity Congress would take the cake! For the past 5 years they have only acted out of SPITE! They have turned this country into the laughingstock of the world! And they DO NOT have Americans interests at heart! I for one am sick of the "romper room" business as usual on the part of Congress! The Congressional Building is NOT a daycare!

That's because that is a troll chrissy. And what the troll doesn't realize is that liberal progressives have been trying to "fundamentally transform" America into a socialist dictatorship for the better part of 100 years. Common Americans have been having to bargain their rights and property away for generations. Republicans don't want a dictatorship, they are for capitalism, where even a high school dropout such as myself can exploit a talent or two for a chance at becoming successful. Progressives use extortion to forcefully take from the successful and distribute to people who are dependent on a NANNY STATE to tell them how to live.

•Personal disposable income has grown nearly 6 times more under Democratic presidents
•Gross Domestic Product (GDP) has grown 7 times more under Democratic presidents
•Corporate profits have grown over 16% more per year under Democratic presidents (they actually declined under Republicans by an average of 4.53%/year)
•Average annual compound return on the stock market has been 18 times greater under Democratic presidents (If you invested $100k for 40 years of Republican administrations you had $126k at the end, if you invested $100k for 40 years of Democrat administrations you had $3.9M at the end)
•Republican presidents added 2.5 times more to the national debt than Democratic presidents
•The two times the economy steered into the ditch (Great Depression and Great Recession) were during Republican, laissez faire administrations

Think about it chrissy, Christians are told they can't display their Nativity scene for Christmas because a single lone atheist got his feelings hurt. Your child can't wear a rosary to school because a muslim might get offended but is forced to wear a burqa, read the Quran and refer to the 9/11 hijackers as freedom fighters instead of terrorists so that same muslim doesn't get offended. So because a politically correct liberal is afraid to offend a single muslim or atheist they offend, insult, infuriate and stomp on the common Americans rights. Time to take America, the greatest nation on Earth back from some nutty fruitcakes who would insult masses of people so they don't offend a few.

Please give us an example of the "extortion" anyone is using; feel free to use the example of the House using a government shutdown (which they can go ahead and do; it won't work) and the threat of trashing the U.S.'s credit rating if they don't pay their already accrued debts as examples.
    Pay your bills, Congress.

And @ hamsta i DO know the difference between the political parties. I also know the present GOP is no longer the "grand old party" it used to be. Its been replaced with the present GOP "greed over people" party. And this im sure will surprise you also because you snap to a judgement quick and keep it even when you're wrong BUT ive been a republican for most of my adult life! And then GWB was elected!

Banasy sure believes some twisted propoganda. Sure both Bush Sr. and Bush Jr. were horrible with the economy but ObaMe is far worse. Sure Clinton was good with the economy but Reagan was far better. Sure JFK was great with the economy but Nixon was better. Did I mention that JFK would be considered a republican by today's standards? Did I also mention Hillary Clinton was FIRED from the Watergate trial for lieing under oath? What a skocker! She lied about Bengahzi also while under oath.at least I can say this much: republicans are honorable people who will impeach their own party if found guilty of wrongdoing, democrats are shady people who will do anything to cling to power and will not impeach their own people no matter the seriousness of their crime. When Nixon lied noone died!

Why is it that when anyone disagrees with him, they MUST be liberal, instead of him merely being wrong, Chrissy? And not only a liberal, but one who is communist as well. I have noticed that trend lately.
I suppose when facts get inconvenient for him, name calling is the best he can do.
