Furloughed workers. Shuttered offices. Lost pay. By now, we know well the awful mess we're in due to the government grinding to a halt. But the shutdown has also had some lesser-known effects.

How wrong you are Banasy. I went to trade school for 4 years to become an A.S.E. Auto Tech. Walmart can't do a simple brake job or a simple wheel alignment because they won't pay REAL mechanics. I have 6 years of training building, repairing and running cranes. My job is not for the faint of heart, I gaurantee the first tome you swing these cranes it will put the fear of God in you. Anyone can stock the shelves or run a cash register at walmart but very few have the nerves of steel, skill and education to do what I do.
Walmart the largest employer in the united states. Not union and not looking to give workers a living wage. Sending employees to the medicaid and food stamp lines. And you are wrong, they have pharms, tire dept, eyeglasses, with pharmacists and optimologists. Many people are there and are raising families, They could be full time they just hire 2ce as many workers to get around benefits Hamsta. Produce workers, Meat cutters, truck drivers, marketing, customer service, shipping and receiving, and forklift operators. All people whom could be full time, few do, but jobs all meant to be full time.
What am I wrong about? I didn't bring up your education, and all you've done in the past few months is talk about your part-time dock work, p/t construction, p/t car fixing. So what am I wrong about?

By banasy's math 40 – 60 hours in a crane plus 30 -40 in a shop is part time. Banasy is delusional.
Try working overtime at Walmart because they tell you to, and then find out it against policy so they won't pay you for your overtime.

Mama, I haven't been to a Walmart in probably that long, either. They offer low paying jobs, forcing people to get supplemental aid, and then people look down their noses at them for being the working poor. Not to mention Walmart help killed Main Street, USA. Bah!
They also pay companies peanuts for the companies products, such as Levi's.
Yes I get overrtime, I actually get overtime every day. If I work from 7:00 A.M. to 6:00 P.M. and catch the turnaround till 10:30 P.M. I get a meal hour ( 1 hour overtime in addition to hourly pay) at 7:00 A.M. and again at 6:00 P.M. anything after 6:00 P.M. and before 6:00 A.M. is overtime. Plus crane operators get 2 for 1 pay. At the shop it's flag time. A shop has a book called a labor estimating guide that specifies how many hours of labor can be charged for each specific job, by law.

The first Tea Party rally on the Mall in Washington DC was in March 2009, less than 2 months after Obama was sworn in. Later, they said they were angry with Bush but had not completely organized yet. Since we knew nothing about Obama’s actually policy recommendations we have to ask what motivated the Tea Party to get active so fast.
Oh, I can guess...the same motivation that prompted Mitt Romney to speak about Obama's failes policies in an interview that took place EIGHT DAYS after he took office in 2009.
Or the same motivation that drove McConnell to have his little secret meeting after Obama was elected, vowing to obstruct everything Obama does.
