U.S. foreign policy takes the latest hit as the government shutdown enters its fourth day.
With his focus on the brewing domestic crisis, the White House canceled President Barack Obama's trip to the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit in Bali, Indonesia.
"The president made this decision based on the difficulty in moving forward with foreign travel in the face of a shutdown, and his determination to continue pressing his case that Republicans should immediately allow a vote to reopen the government," a statement from the White House said.
Secretary of State John Kerry will lead the U.S. delegation in Asia.

THAT will save us some money...
Yeah@Ruffnut and solve our budget crisis.lol
We have seen the nutty majority in Congress going berserk , shutting down the govt and now they vow to take the budget fight to the brink. The enemy within, political terrorism to undermine the very country they are supposed to serve.
Not content with that agenda these GOTP ( to quote @chrissy) extremists are now sabotaging the US-Iran initiative to peacefully resolve this festering issue which could lead US into another quagmire.
If you are here@chrissy search the article by Robert Fisk in the 'Independent' published yesterday. If i mention the title i'll be blocked. Its a must read.
Congressman and Congresswoman are public servant. All of us are taxpayers paying their salary. Why can't news reporters ask each Congressman and Congresswoman to tell the public how they would vote for the budget as it is currently proposed and tell the taxpayers? We can't have the vote to be a secret or not allowing them do their duty to exercise their responsibilities. If Speaker is not doing his job and not allowing the vote to be exercised. He is not doing his job. The public should request and get the answer. Thanks.

@chrissy
my response to you yesterday was blocked and the same is happening now on that Govt shut down thread.
While these TPers were campaigning, they wooed the people with all their honey and butter rhetoric. I believe if the majority of those who helped vote them in knew how ridiculously extreme they would be, they would not have gotten in there. Hopefully, theirs eyes have been opened and they will correct the mistake they made.
Its ok @ saywhat, im relatively certain that we are on the same page as far as the congressional shenanigans are concerned.
Obame is doing everything he can to make life miserable because America doesn't want his socialist Obamecare. Spending more money securing his enemy's monuments than securing the border, now he is foregoing his vacation. I would gladly by him a one way ticket for a permanent vacation in his homeland of Kenya.
As you have a very poor understanding of what government trips are about, FH, there is no help for you.
What part of he was born in Hawaii, (part of the U.S.) don't you get? By your ridivulous logic, the real Hamsta should go back to his homeland: Germany.
The thing that is most troubling is that its NOT the majority of our congressional leaders. How can less then half of them make the decisions for this whole country? How did so few get so powerful?
Lmao @ Hamsta, YOU would know everything about someone trying to make everyone else miserable wouldnt you? That old saying about misery loving company MUST be true because you sure give it YOUR best shot every stinkin day! Well sorry son because none of us has any desire to join your sorry dupa!
An illegal alien, a muslim and a socialist dictator walk in a bar. The bartender says a gretting " What will you have to drink Mr. Obama?"
Hopefully this government shutdown lasts long enough for the useful idiots to realize that we don't want or need a socialist NANNY STATE dictator running America so far into the dirt that we end up being a third world nation.
