Shutdown: Obama cancels Asia trip

U.S. foreign policy takes the latest hit as the government shutdown enters its fourth day.

With his focus on the brewing domestic crisis, the White House canceled President Barack Obama's trip to the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit in Bali, Indonesia.

"The president made this decision based on the difficulty in moving forward with foreign travel in the face of a shutdown, and his determination to continue pressing his case that Republicans should immediately allow a vote to reopen the government," a statement from the White House said.

Secretary of State John Kerry will lead the U.S. delegation in Asia.

    problem @bobcat is that still majority of citizenry remains complacent and unaware by choice. Come elections and they would be driven again by rhetoric, propaganda, mislead by hate & fear mongering politicians. Backed by Big money those we should spurn would be there up on the Hill gain and again.

    Since Fake Hamsta hit all of the faux talking points with his joke:
    A republican is riding in a limo and sees a man by the side of the road eating grass. He stops and asks, "why are you eating grass." The man says, "it is all I can afford to eat." The Republican replies, "get in and come to my home where I will feed you." "Can I bring my family" the man asks? "Sure" says the Republican, "there is plenty of food for you all."

    So the man gathers his family and piles into the limo. "I am glad I found you" the Republican begins on the ride to his home. "The grass in my front yard is almost a foot tall and my gardener was deported."

      Banasy, in the REALLY REAL world in which one of my coworkers is homeless and lives at the New Orleans Mission where the homeless population has recently doubled all the new homeless guests have the same answer when asked what made them homeless: OBAMECARE. Regardless of what those LIEING politician's tell you or the LIBERALLY BIASED MAINSTREAM MEDIA tells you, in the REALLY REAL world Obamecare is making people HOMELESS.

      Did you look up the meaning of anecdotal, yet? Did you know that the ACA had 161 amendments put in by the GOP? Did you know that it is a Heritage Foundation program, and that Romney used it MA? The ONLY reason the GOTP doesn't like it is because they have an irrational hatred for Obama, and have been dedicated to obstruction from the day he was elected. You guys OWN this shutdown. Man up, already.

    The man smiled and responded, "You must be a Republican."
    "I am," replied the balloonist. "How did you know?"
    "Well," said the man, "you don't know where you are or where you are going. You've risen to where you are due to a large quantity of hot air. You made a promise you have no idea how to keep, and you expect me to solve your problem. You're in exactly the same position you were in before we met, but somehow, now it's my fault."

      Your very funny banasy, my family has been sailors and navigators since the early 1500's and among the first to successfully navigate Cape Horn. A democrat's definition of navigator is one of those Obamacare glitches that couldn't find it's way out of a wet paper bag.

    Banasy did you know corporate America has responded to Obamecare by laying people off, cutting others hours from full time with overtime to part time? Did you know the Tea Party offered to negotiate 3 seperate times this month alone? Did you know Obamecare was forced through in the middle of the night behind locked doors so noone could oppose it? And yes in the REALLY REAL world it is making people homeless. Why don't you step out of your sheltered life for a minute, go visit a homeless shelter and get the REALLY REAL story?

      Obama is doing nothing of the sort. Presidents have been trying to get some sort of nationwide healthcare for 70 years. Obama takes a Heritage (GOP) program, amends it with 161 GOP amendments, and passes it, and the tantrums ensue because of who Obama is.

      Of course I have insurance. And you ain't baiting me for nothin. As you do know it went up %40 due to obamacare. To deny that that was not the cause is irresponsible. In the five years I've had it it has NEVER went up and then POOF. %40. This is not news to you banz? There are stories far and wide across this country that are just like mine including a family out east somewhere where their premiums TRIPLED! Scary times
