Obama calls Boehner; stalemate goes on

There were news conferences and a high-level phone call between President Barack Obama and House Speaker John Boehner, but no immediate sign of progress on reopening the government a week into a partial shutdown or reaching a deal to avoid the first-ever U.S. default next week.

Obama called Boehner on Tuesday morning, and the White House then announced the president would make a statement and take some questions from reporters at 2 p.m. ET.

Earlier, Boehner demanded that Obama and Democrats negotiate with Republicans on steps needed to end the shutdown that began on October 1 and raise the nation's debt ceiling before the deadline for default on October 17.

Ignorance must truly be bliss eh@ hamsta wannabe? Because you just blissfully post your rubbish without any research at all and blissfully hopes no one contests it! Because your last post was total rubbish with absolutely no facts at all!

Thanks @ Merrilee, he knows he was incorrect thats why he didn't respond. And he must be totally devestated today now that its become public knowledge that his team the GOTP have decided to come up with a plan to end the shut down and why they did! All it took was Corporation CEOs to threaten to stop campaign funds! What a bunch of weasels!

Just a reminder to all the real Americans, remember to buy American for Christmas. Remember to make Koch Bros poor by not buying Georgia pacific products, and do not wipe yourself with Angel soft bathroom tissue.

Here we go again the Boehner(crybaby-no-brainer) is pulling his shenanigans. He is putting forth the minority of republicans. Not letting most of the republicans vote, to get his way. Must I remind the mindless on here who has always paid off the debt of the republicans, yes it is the democrats. So if you people really want to get serious and pay off the debt put democrats in the house and senate, get rid of the tea party useless, and let the dems pay it off. The only things the republicans wanted like: letting the business people not go on Obamacare this year, and now they cry because it has gone into effect for the people. They are not interested in the american people, they want a tax for businesses (Medical Device tax) not to come to fruitian is helping businesses whom make billions not pay for their share of the $350.00 hip implant, that sells for $10,000.(manufacturers) and the insurance gets $20,000. What a mark up eh?

I predict that Boehner has Obama where he wants him. Right at Thanksgiving he will still be trying to repeal Obamacare. It is not going to happen and the reason will be the minority of tea partiers. We pay for these people that do not have insurance with a higher premium of insurance. The only thing these mindless republicans did was make insurance 143% higher during Bush's rule and give more to his Pharma friends. Lincoln was a republican, the 1st, but what he believed in is what the democrats are today, for the people. republicans are for big business, The Koch Bros., none of us have that kind of money and that is who runs the government.(At least most of the republicans) It is time to run for government, yeah, us little folk, and put big business in it's place, they get 1 vote, limit the money they give to campaigns, and tell them what they will pay in taxes, none of the overseas crap.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: if Abe was around today, the GOTP would marginalize him by calling him a RINO.

On July 14th Boehner accepted a negotiated compromise to a clean CR where Boehner and the GOP even got over $30 billion MORE than Boehner asked for, only to have Boehner yank the rug out from under President Obama after they had an agreement. Boehner admitted this on National TV to George Stephanopoulos.

The silver tongued satan is speaking Ted Cruz. Intertwining religion and politics in the meantime threatening to bring our government to it's knee's. The minority (and Boehner not bringing it to a vote to the rest of congress) preaching for the good of America but will send us to another recession. Who do you think will run for president. He has perverted the consti-tution to his veiws for his own purposes to get the means of fervent followers to destroy the fabric of society. Here we go, he is telling of his fathers hardship in Cuba. Born in Canada, he is truely going to bring us down, by his righteousness, and obvious disregard for the american will of the many by the few. Maybe Boehner is letting him hang himself?

Oh, I hope Rafael McCarthy Cruz runs in 2016. He doesn't really translate well to the majority of voters, and he would get trounced by HRC.
He's a snake oil salesman. He doesn't care about anything except Rafael "Ted" Cruz. Very cold.

Not only the fabric of this society@Mama, this mindset is a threat to the very foundations of this edifice – US of A.
Americans in general don't realize how this mindset has been damaging this country. I do think though that the lassitude of the progressive in our Congress is to be blamed also.
