Shutdown forecast: Week Two, and clouds ahead

Tuesday marks the eighth day of the partial shutdown of the federal government, and there's no end in sight.

President Barack Obama continues to refuse to negotiate with Republicans. They continue to insist that any government funding bill must somehow delay, defund or otherwise disrupt his signature health reform law.

What's more, the issue of funding the government has now fused with the issue of raising the nation's debt ceiling.

They're like a bunch of children who are trying to bargain their way out of doing their chores! Brats! I hope Obama sticks to his plan and doesn't cave into them.

Blah blah blah @ hamsta! Its like "step into Monty Halls office, and lets make a deal"! I don't have much respect for parents that negotiate with their kids to do their chores, either! They know whats expected, WHY they get an allowance and if they don't wanta do it then no money for them!

I really don't think so either. Just the way his comments are put together now show someone who is not familiar with the ninth ward of New Orleans.

A deer was trying to cross a busy road but the traffic was very heavy. After waiting unsuccessfully for a few minutes, a bear walked past and said: “Excuse me, there’s a zebra crossing a bit further along the road.” The deer said, “Well, I hope he’s having better luck than I am!

That kind of sounds like our congess, doesn't it ? Don't understand there is an easier way to do things.

Too true. I am getting rather tired of the GOP's intransigence. Get a hold of yourself, Boehner, and vote the clean CR.

in the midst of this completely irresponsible and anti American behavior of these 'brats' is the glaring personal ambition of Bohener. He apparently feels that he would be dethroned immediately if he goes against the wishes of those holding this nation hostage.

    Hello banasy

I read an article earlier on how the shutdown in impacting even common americans now as well. It seems that property owners in the Lake Meade recreational area are being forced from their homes until after the shut down ends. It is explained that this is a federally run park, the home owners are technically viewed as visitors, and as we know, all federal run parks are closed to the public. Real nice huh ?

In another news item, Boehner and his cronies are trying to downplay the impact a government default will have. So are they saying yes, they do intend to let the government default ?

The harm would be irreparable. They should NOT downplay this for some talking point.
