Super Typhoon Haiyan hits central Philippines

With 25 million people in its path, Super Typhoon Haiyan - one of the strongest storms recorded on the planet - smashed into the Philippines on Friday morning.

As the storm plowed across the cluster of islands in the heart of the country, casualties were reported, more than 100,000 people took shelter in evacuation centers and hundreds of flights were canceled.

The storm brought tremendously powerful winds roaring ashore as it made landfall in the province of Eastern Visayas, disrupting communications with a major city in its path.

I wish that I could change the effects of the storm, but I cannot. I can only empathize and express my condolences for so much loss.
Good morning banasy, chrissy, saywhat, bobcat, Jeff Frank, and Hagen.
Today I have to teach. I've been working only one day a week, but I'm going to do a little more soon.

"Expressions of compassion and well wishes'" blathers the leftist. Talk is cheap. Dig in that wallet and donate to charity, or get on a plane and go help with the aftermath, but your cheap talk here, while it makes you feel righteous and generous, accomplishes nothing.

Now to banasys question of me supposedly calling her names. Never did woman. I corrected your blatent falsehoods on obamacare. Get your facts straight before debating me on it. You have your head buried so far up obamas butt you wouldn't know the truth if it smacked u up side the face. Don't call me a name caller when I simply state the facts. I stated that four point two million have been kicked off their insurance. You said I made it up. Then later you conceded with a bunch of spin(typical). Stick to the facts banasy. Facts don't come back to bite you in the rear end sweetie

I believe you misread what I stated. Not an unusual occurrence.
When you start posting facts and not hyperbole, I may address you again. Until then, please focus your propaganda towards someone who isn't impervious to that sort of thing.

Caring and compassion are leftist? You are sorely lacking in empathy, "Yawn",
      What party displays that trait?

My name is Jj. And CNN with their censorship laws I continually have to change my name to get posted. Not my fault that CNN denies me on a weekly basis. But you will always know it's me as I intend to keep using acronyms for Jj. Why knit pick about something as silly as a name when you know it's me. Jees. Gossip much???

Man made global warming is behind this. Do-gooders must seize control of the government a and compel solutions upon the peasantry.

    Good morning all my friends
@ JIF, I agree totally and second your emotions on the news of this storm, but there is not much more we can discuss on this situation.

Now on a different front, I feel compelled to share some news with you that many of you may consider disturbing or possibly even upsetting to your normal routine. I truly hope I don't throw a monkey wrench into your lives today.

It was reported this morning that a deal with Iran could be achieved as early as today, and here is the disturbing part, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is FURIOUS over the possibility of the deal and likely loosening of sanctions.

If this news has caused you any anguish, please, please try my time tested technique. 3 times each now. Breathe In, Breathe Out. Enhance the Calm. Ahhhhh. Now doesn't that feel better ?

This doesn't upset me on the least, but then, I'm not an Israel firster; they are more than capable of defending their country. Bibi needs to pick better company; Graham and McCain are past their expectation date.

Good morning @ bobcat, Joey and Juan! And @ Joey, Juan is correct, ignore the negative and then you will *positively* have a much better day, lol! And @ Al Gore, are you kidding? The government should START taking care of government stuff and stay out of things that we (humans) should have enough common sense, to take upon ourselves to do! Our government is to phat already for crying out loud!

Good morning @ Joey, bobcat and Juan! And yes @ Joey, Juan is correct, ignore the "negative" and you will *positively* have a better day! And @ Al Gore, are you serious? The government needs to stick to government issues! To many things they should be taking care of are being ignored because they are involved in things they shouldn't be! And our government is way too BIG already!

I know chrissy, as the whole world celebrates the possibility of peace, Netanyahu longs for war. I wonder how many of our right leaning comrades share his views.

    Good morning all.
And yes i share sentiments expressed by @JI-F on the Philippines calamity.
    @Yawn
your sentiments on doing more for the victims are rightly placed. The situation is still unfolding and i'm sure there would be folks here who would open their hearts and wallets for those who suffer. We'll do what we can.

Indeed these are disturbing news. The hawks (dual loyalty idiots) in the senate have gone into high gear on cue from Netanyahu to sabotage this very welcome breakthrough on Iran issue. This was imperative for world peace.
Its up to us Americans to stop this anti American move by the Senate.Lets get on the phone to our reps.
