Snowden offers to help Brazil probe NSA

National Security Agency leaker Edward Snowden has written an "open letter to the people of Brazil" offering to help investigate U.S. surveillance of Brazilian citizens.

The letter was posted on the website pastebin and on the Facebook page of David Michael Miranda, partner of journalist Glenn Greenwald, according to a tweet from Greenwald.

In the letter, Snowden says he has told Brazilian lawmakers that he is willing to help investigate "suspected crimes against Brazilian citizens."

"I have expressed my willingness to assist wherever appropriate and lawful, but unfortunately the United States government has worked very hard to limit my ability to do so - going so far as to force down the Presidential Plane of Evo Morales to prevent me from traveling to Latin America!

"Until a country grants permanent political asylum, the U.S. government will continue to interfere with my ability to speak."

This is the person who a lot of you were praising as a hero. Now he is offering to help another country against his own. Do you still consider him a patriot ?

"Investigate suspected crimes of brazilian citizens" is not going against his own country! And at this moment he has no country does he? Im glad he informed american citizens of what our government was quite sneakily up too. And our wonderfully shady government forced him to flea the country and seek asylum elsewhere, thereby making him spill the beans as to why! Im not saying hes a hero im just saying neither is our government! They are lazy and shiftless and justify all the garbage they do as "homeland security" and are no better than a peeping tom or snoopy neighbor! Theyve gotten way too big and full of themselves!

Hola Chrissy. I very much agree with your post. However I will call him a hero regardless of what people think. If it wasn't for Snowden we would all still be In the dark on all this unlawful snooping into our lives. How can this be the land of the free when Uncle Sam has the ability to know exactly where I am at all times? Has ability to see my emails, texts, and what websites I visit? Heck they can even remotely turn my phone on and listen to my convos! Scary stuff

Ty @ Juan. My main point is: the american government is wasting wayyy too much of OUR tax dollars without our permission on stuff that they have no business doing! And meanwhile they arent doing government business! Why did they feel the need to dictate what kinda freakin lightbulbs we use or that you have to have cable to watch tv. And i could agree with the snooping maybe if they have actual probable cause!

Not true...say that statement when we're being attacked by terrorists. The government is not spying on everyday people. Snowdon is and always will be a traitor and has put the USA in danger. And when Americans back him up you're no better.

Patriotism in my humble opinion is seeing that this beloved country of ours embodies the values which gave it birth. And not only for us Americans but for this world.
US of A was most certainly not meant to be a surveillance state.

What is the US of A since the disposal of JFK.
It all really does not matter in the short run now does it.
Looking from the outside in, paints a hole different picture now.

You all want somebody dead and so did they!
One just looks at it from their own perspective.

So the only question really is WHO and WHAT is our Government.
Wars are being lost and the people are about to loose the battle.

This is not about 1 man.
