'Duck Dynasty' star suspended

Is this man simply expressing his beliefs or spewing bigotry?

Either way, Phil Robertson, the patriarch in A&E's "Duck Dynasty," won't be duck calling on air anytime soon. The network suspended him after slamming gays in a magazine interview.

In the January issue of GQ, Robertson said homosexuality is a sin and puts it in the same category as bestiality and promiscuity.

His opinon was ignorant, not hateful. Should we, as a society, expect people to be punished for having a conflicting view point?

Mr. Robertson is welcome to express his beliefs. A&E has expressed theirs.

Phil has made a valid argument. To disagree would only be one's effort to justify their own personal immoral lifestyle. If you are not prepared for an answer that does not fit your believes, don't ask the question. Don't twist his words into anti-anything.

Of course, A&E may do as they wish with his view. They're beasts that way.

Ones opinion is just that, Ones opinion. I still fail to see how this impacts the life of those who are on the sideline. People are just too obsessed with the lives of others. That's where the real problem lies. Knowing how people are today, I'm sure they have negative opinions on the styles of each and everyone of us. If anyone claims to live the perfect life, I call BS. Mind your own backyard. It is not for us too judge one way or another.

I know banasy. I guess it's just some peoples nature to continuously inject themselves into the workings of others. To me that just doesn't make sense. Do they really believe that their opinion matters to those being intruded upon. The only opinions that matter to me are my own and those of my loved ones ( to an extent ).

Since many White America , including those whites who have a long history of embracing white supremacy ,openly believe they are superior to Black America, or they believe blacks are inferior to them, and therefore the demonic Black America ,who have arisen from both the black hip hop and antebellum nation will continue to take up stereotypical images of low class ,poverty stricken and criminally prone blacks, and have replace the black human population who were exterminated during the black holocaust 1968-1993

Pretty stupid move on A&Es part cuz he makes that show. And everyone is allowed to have their own views just as everyone is allowed to agree or disagree! Too much trying to control what ppl think these days.

Suppose it depends on what is in his contract, Chrissy.
He's within his rights to say/think what he pleases, but A&E doesn't have to give him the megaphone to shout it out with.

No. If he violates his contract, A&E is under no obligation to keep him. And you can be very sure that A&E had its legal ducks in a row. Free speech refers to fear of GOVERNMENT reprisal. A&E isn't govt.

I find this so exhausting. So if you have an opinion, and as long as it is the "right" opinion, that is okay, hunky dory. BUT, dare you have an opinion that is different, then you are just an awful person and should be punished accordingly. Very, very tiring to say the least. If you don't want to know the opinion/answer, then why ask the question?
