Gotta Watch: Soldier shocks daughter on football field

13-year-old Bella Lund thought she was on the field during a University of Wisconsin-Madison football game as part of the team’s tradition of honoring a military family of the game during home games.

What she didn’t know was that her mom, Army Captain Jane Renee “J.R.” Lund, was returning home from a 6-month deployment in Afghanistan. Lund stood a few yards behind her daughter on the sidelines waiting to surprise her with a cheering crowd of more than 80,000 fans as an audience.

The reunion that followed is sure to warm any heart.

Gotta Watch: Lawmakers gone wild

In the U.S., there's a time on the political calendar pundits like to call "the silly season;" it's when the debate can get out of hand, and the weapons can come out, figuratively of course.  In some countries things get way out of hand, real weapons come out, and the only thing you can call is security.

Recently, a lawmaker in Jordan took such offense at accusations thrown at him by a rival, he threw his shoe, then pulled a gun, during a televised debate.  That's not the first time politicians have let the discourse turn from verbal blows, to physical ones.

On Memorial Day this Monday, the United States will remember troops who died serving their country. The holiday originally started in Waterloo in 1866 to honor those who died in the Civil War.

The last U.S. troops withdrew from Iraq in December. Just days ago, NATO agreed on a withdrawal of U.S.-led international military forces from Afghanistan by 2014. In honor of the contributions that U.S. troops have made to the country, watch some of our favorite military homecomings.
