Indian security forces wound 4 in protests for slain villager

Indian security forces opened fire Saturday morning on a violent mob in the south Kashmir Shopian district of Indian-administered Kashmir, wounding four protesters, a district official said.

The mob was protesting the killing of a fellow villager in an Indian army ambush in the early morning hours. A companion of the villager was also wounded in the shooting in Chewan village, about 35 miles from the capital, Srinagar, an Indian army spokesman said.
