27 Taliban slain in Afghan fighting, official says

At least 27 Taliban members were killed in northwestern Afghanistan on Tuesday, a government official said.

The deaths occurred in a NATO and Afghan army operation targeting militants in Baghdis province. The precise location is Joye Kuwaja village of the province's Ballah Morgha district, the head of the governor's office staff said.

Among those slain in what is described as an ongoing operation were seven Taliban commanders.
